ABOUT ME
Hi, I'm David
WHERE I COME FROM
I was born in Amsterdam NY to Biagio and Lena Bucciferro and grew up with two sisters and two brothers. At the end of my second-grade year, we moved to Perth, NY to be closer to my father's store. The store was a family market where people always seemed to gather and a place that taught us about hard work, business principles, and community involvement. In 1990, my wife Linda and I moved to Scotia to raise our family. We selected Scotia for many reasons: the schools, the community, the central location, and - at that time - a lovely downtown. Today, we still live on Glen Avenue in the same house we raised our family. Our son, Alex, resides with us and our son, Bruce, also resides in Scotia. Erica, our daughter, lives in Florida with her husband, Kyle, and our two precious grandchildren, Parker and Tanner. We call Scotia home and cannot imagine being anyplace else.
A FULFILLING CAREER OF HARD WORK
Like many, I have had many work experiences through my early work years that helped shape my work ethic and skill set. Working my way through college, I worked in the mills in Amsterdam, a machine shop for high-end electronics, yard work, and, of course, my parents' store. After graduating from Siena College with a B.S. in Chemistry, I went to work as a chemical reactor-room manager and, after a series of personal and family events, decided I needed to work in an occupation to help others. After 30-plus years at the Office of Mental Health, I retired as the Director of Psychiatric Rehabilitation. Upon announcing my retirement, I was asked to join Foothold Technology, an electronic health record company, for behavioral health. Most recently, I was appointed to the Board of Advisors for Foothold's parent company, Radicle Health. Besides my role with Radicle as a Board member and Adviser, I do various consulting jobs with behavioral health agencies and stakeholder groups. In addition, over the past few years, I have been an active member of the Electronic Health Record Association (EHRA) serving as Vice-Chair of the EHRA, Co-Chair of the Opioid Crisis Taskforce, Co-Chair of the Public Health Workgroup, and Chair of the Membership Committee. I have been very fortunate in my working life, having gained experience in budgeting, project management, team building, leadership, personnel skill development, long-term planning service design, regulatory development, revenue management and much more.
COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
I have always believed in giving back to my community and have been active in youth sports, school leadership, and community involvement for most of my adult life. My involvement includes being the past chair of the Lincoln Elementary Shared Decision-Making committee, former leader of the Lincoln School Cub Scouts, former President of the All-Sports Booster Club, and current member and Past President of the Scotia-Glenville School Board of Education. Additionally, I have been active in youth sports, having served as a coach for many years in baseball, basketball, and football. I was President of the Scotia-Glenville Pop Warner and a member of the Capital District Pop Warner Board. I have also served on various village community groups. I believe our youth are the future of our community and plan to work hard to bring grant-funded/sustainable youth programs to our community by working with youth organizations and community partners.
